Behind The Scenes – Cake Photography

Today I’m pulling back the curtain and giving you a quick glimpse to how I photograph food, specifically Apple Cinnamon Pound Cake.

I love photographing food!  This specific photoshoot was 100% for fun!  I tested two lighting setups and tested a brand new tethering cable I had received.  For those who are interested, a tethering cable is a type of USB cable that allows me to connect my camera directly to my computer.  This way I can see my images, as I capture them, on a display larger than the small display on the back of my camera.

For the first lighting setup I used one light with a diffuser and white foam core to bounce the light.  Here is the “behind-the-scenes” followed by the final image:

For the second lighting setup I used a lightbox with two lights, one on either side of the box.  Here is the “behind-the-scenes” followed by the final image:

I also added some coloured tissue paper as a little background.

I hope you enjoyed this behind-the-scenes posting!  Please don’t hesitate to contact me through my Contact page if you have any questions about my setup.
