Mothers Day & The Mississauga Half Marathon

Last weekend on Sunday May 10th, many of children both young and old celebrated how wonderful and amazing our mothers are.  Many of us show our appreciation through purchases such as flowers, spa packages, and various other gifts we think will show our mothers how special they are to us.  All of this is an attempt to pamper our moms.  To let them kick thier feet up and sit back and relax for the day.

I was lucky enough to celebrate with three moms for mothers day.   I enjoyed an afternoon bbq with my mom, her mom and my family at my grandparents place.  It was sunny with a cool breeze but nice enough to sit outside in the sun and enjoy each others company.  Thanks Mom and Grandma for being such solid figures in our family.  For being the ones we can always come to and rely on.

Very early in the morning I got to see and cheer on another amazing mom, Joan, as she completed the Mississauga Half Marathon Run.  Many mothers participated in the run that morning.  Some with their husbands and children cheering them on from the sidelines, one mother even stopped to pick up her little baby girl and carry her across the finish line as she completed her run.  Overall it was a beautiful celebration of strength, determination and honour, which are qualities our mom’s have, but they also apply to everyone who participated in the run.

Joan completed her run 5th out of 84 people in her age group, with a run time of  1hour and 49 minutes, which she can be proud of.  She looked confident and strong as she rounded the bend and took the last few strides towards the finish line.  Congratulations Joan on a great run and accomplishment, you are an inspiration.

Here are some photos from the Marathon:

Many are ready and waiting at the finish line to see their loved ones accomplish their goals.

The finish line.

While we were looking for Joan at the finish line I spotted these two dogs play fighting and got these two interesting shots.
