Apartment Renovations Begin

Two weeks ago construction began on our apartment unit.  The building is updating and renovating the heating and air conditioning ventilation system in all of the units.  Each year they do one row of apartments from the penthouse down to the first floor.  There are over 24 floors in our building, so it take a few months just to do one row, this summer it’s our turn.

Sadly for us it means that for the last few weeks and for the next month we have to live in a constant state of construction.  We are to expect contractors in our apartment almost daily, have everything constantly cleared for easy access, our stuff covered with sheets and protective bubble wrap etc, as well as take photos morning and night in case of thefts (no I don’t trust strangers in our place when we are not here).

Anyways…. here are a few photos of what the initial demo looked like to take the walls down around one of the two units.  We had to cover our entire place in plastic to stop the plaster dust from getting into everything… it still got everywhere.
