Shiny New Look!
Just in time for Summer I’d like to introduce you to my Spring 2013 baby… the newly redesigned and refreshed Bonnie Penny Photography website and logo!
Here is a little bit of back story about the new look:
Photographers are always being challenged to keep their images fresh and to stay up to speed on new technologies and techniques. With how quickly our industry changes and evolves, it generally doesn’t leave much time for us to spend on our portfolio and marketing. However the design of a photographers logo and overall brand is very important. When choosing or designing a logo the font legibility and size have to be taken into consideration, as it has to be legible in many mediums including when used as a small watermark on our images (to protect the copy right of our work). We also need to use appealing colours for the webpage and business cards, so that the design compliments our photos and doesn’t distract from them.
As a photographer I really enjoy working with other local artists and thought re-branding was a great oppourtunity to do so. I contacted the Ontario College of Art & Design message board and posted a swap of services offer. I offered to do a photo shoot in return for a new logo / business card design. A lovely student named Maria replied, we met, we talked design, school, photography etc and decided to work together. It was a wonderful process working with her and I’m convinced she is going to be a great designer when she finishes school. I am really impressed with Maria’s work style and the end results. I hope you are too!
While I worked on integrating my shiny new logo into my branding, I fulfilled my end of the offer and did a photoshoot for Maria and three of her lovely friends. I met the four girls at the beautiful Historic Distillery District in Toronto where they braved the brisk Spring winds and we took many photos. Keep an eye here on the blog, I’ll be sharing some of their photos soon!
I hope you enjoy the new site and new look! I’d appreciate any feedback and thoughts!
Sincerely,
Bonnie :)
