Tie Dye Spring Colored Roses
The days are getting longer, the snow has mostly melted and the temperature is reaching a degree or two higher every day. I’m taking this as a clear sign that Spring has actually begun!
The official first day of Spring this year was on March 20th 2013. In honor of Spring I’d like to share with you a little experiment I did recently…
I made Tie Dye Roses! My friend Allison told me that if you take white roses, split the stems and put each of the splits into different colors of food coloring, then over a few days the roses would absorb and take on the color of the food coloring. I thought this was very interesting and gave it a try.
I was surprised that the rose petals didn’t turn out as vibrant as the food coloring water in the containers. However I was really pleased that they had a very Spring and Easter pastel inspired coloring instead. The edges of the rose petals seemed to be where the coloring showed up the most.
It was a fun experiment and I would happily try it again.
Happy Spring!
Bonnie :)
