My first night in a Hostel

My first night in a Hostel

Last night was pretty uneventful.  There were people in the rec room watching South Park.  There were people using laptops and computers all over the  place.  The kitchen was closed.  There are a lot of german and dutch people here.  Aswell as Auzzies.  The 5 girls I’m sharing my room with pretty much kept to themselves.  I don’t think they are all travelling together.

I’ve got a top bunk, which is something I’ve always wanted but as an adult I felt a little nervous about it.   It was pretty comfortable and I was so tired that I feel asleep pretty quickly.  I slept from around midnight until 6:30am when the first of the girls started to wake up.  So I decided to get up and take advantage of the free breakfast in the kitchen.  It only happens on Thursdays, so thankfully that’s today.  It’s still pretty basic, I had a bowl of cornflakes and toast with jam and peanut butter.  They are cooking sausages and bacon, but no pancakes or eggs.  They make bacon differently here.  Basically they don’t fully cook it.  It’ pretty raw still when they serve it to you, so I didn’t eat that.  Then when you are finished you wash up your own dishes and put them on the communal shelf and you’re done.  Would be nice if they had something to drink too.  But there are vending machines for that.

Well I’ve got two hours before my day trip to Phillip Island to see the  smallest penguins in the world and more.  So I’d better go pack my stuff in the room.  It will take a little while since I can only use my book light to see things.  Thank goodness for that thing.

Hope you are all doing well.
