Journey to Port Douglas
Chantelle, Reid & I caught our early morning flight from Brisbane to Cairns which is at the north end of the country and the state of Queensland. Our flight arrived late and then took it’s time unloading the luggage. Chantelle & Reid got theirs pretty quickly and I was starting to worry that mine might not have made it, but then it showed up on the carousel. We rushed outside to catch our shuttle bus for the 1hour ride to Port Douglas. It was a long windy drive along the coast. It was really hot too because the A/C in the bus was busted.
We arrived at our hotel caled “Oaks Lagoon”. It wasn’t exactly what we were expecting from the looks of things on the website, but it was still a nice apartent style hotle room with a ktichen etc. Ech ground floor room had pools out front of the rooms. We had our own stairs into the pool from our patio area attached to our hotel room it was great! It looked good at night too with blue lights in the pool.
By the time we checked in it was around lunch time. So we took the Port Douglas shuttle bus into town to find some lunch. Port Douglas is a small strip of a town. It was very nice, clean, friendly people and fun shopping. We had some lunch, walked around thier little harbour and art stores. Then we decided to stock up on breakfast items and take them back to the hotel. We returned to the main town area for dinner at the harbour later that night. I had grilled Baramundi (fish) on mashed sweet potatoes with veggies. The three of us started with the calamari which was super tasty.
It was a great day and I look forward to the Daintree Rainforest tour tomorrow.
