2004, What a year it was!
2004 was an interesting year. I had 2130 vistors to my website. I’d like to see over 3000 for 2005. It was a year that I could check off some of the biggest goals on my list of things to do in life.
This past year was a lot of fun. I’ve met some really cool people from Australia (whom I hope to visit soon).
One of the goals I crossed off my list was when I finally got the chance to leave north america and travel to europe. I learned so much about my family’s history, about who I am and who I want to be. Germany, Amsterdam and England are all beautiful places that I would love to go back to one day.
2004 also marked the year that I received my first compositing credit in a feature film. That film is “Dawn Of The Dead”. It’s a zombie flick for you peeps with a weak stomach. But it was a lot of fun. My first shot as a compositor was of the first zombie we see in the film. it’s a little girl in a hallway and I did a rig removal. That’s all I am going to say. The film is incredible and you must go rent it right away. Well after you finish checking out my site ;)
I also had one of my two shots from Resident Evil: Apocalypse in the movie trailer! That was pretty cool!
2004 is also the first year that I have ever shown some of my art in a gallery. I had two pieces and they are both a kylie minouge meets photoshop style.
Some cool new and old bands that I got exposed to are (an in no particular order):
Black Eyed Peas
Jakalope
Helmut
Shinedown
Unkle
The Killers
Black Rebel Motorcycle Club
Franz Ferdinand
Pilate
Scissor Sisters
Kaskade
Hot Hot Heat
Kyprios
Sweatshop Union
I reccommend that you pick up albums from all of those artists. That list is just a few of the bands/artists that I hadn’t heard of before 2004. My regulars like ATB, Chemical Brothers etc had amazing album releases as well.
Since so many tv series are now available on dvd, I would suggest renting the first season to the series called “24”. For those that have not heard of 24, it is basically a show that happens in real time. So each episode is an hour in length but it will be only one hour out of a 24 hour day. eg 2pm-3pm. It’s about the LA CTU (Counter Terrorist Unit) and their main agent Jack Bauer and all the things he goes through to keep the USA safe. It’s really well edited, the sound is great, the writting is amazing. Oh not to mention the never ending suspence. Now if only canada had some sort of tv show like this. Heck we probably don’t even have a CTU T-dot. Ahh I’ll save that for another article.
2004 was fun guys. Lots of fun parties, bdays, travelling and concerts, sooooo many great concerts!
I can’t wait to see what 2005 will hold.
