2004 the year music videos ran away in fright!
Welcome to 2005 guys! 2004 was a fun year. There are some things however that don’t need to be remembered. Like Janet Jacksons boob incident @ the Super Bowl, Britney’s 2 marriages (sorry Rico she just couldn’t wait for you any longer), JLo’s ingagement to Affleck and then marriage to Mark Anthony, Madonna’s pathetic name change….hmm these seem like things that I would never waste a second of my time finding out about. Yet I couldn’t escape it. Darn tabloids they are everywhere! What ever happened to music being about the music and not who it sleeps with?
You should check out the newest track from the T-dots own ESTHERO called “We Are In Need Of A Musical Revolution” I couldn’t agree with her more.
Just who was the big shot that decided to show less music videos (those things we love that cost lots of $$$ to make and look good) for all those pathetic kids that blab at the video camera with barely any clothing on…yes I am talking about Muchmusic. They should be renamed to “Nomusic” Seriously! I flipped to Muchwasteoftime on tuesday when at my mums place and discovered that one of the new kid vjs was almost showing everything that pants are supposed to cover! Who authoried this! Yeah sure, all you guys are going to turn on channel 29 now…but you’ll probably discover that her annoying hour is up and there is now some dude that can barely pronounce some of the bands names. How did he get a job there?
The interesting thing is that Muchmusic has created all of these different channels that you can purchase from your local cable company that show mostly music videos…eg MuchLoud, Much Rap or something. Why not just put all the music videos back onto one channel that we get with basic cable and put all of the garbage like the Nick and Jessica puke show and Much On Demand (aka watch todlers scream when they hear the name of any band) onto a channel that people can subscribe for? Hmm? What do you guys think?
I think that we need to take a stand and start insisting that they MM & MTV (for those of you who don’t live in canada) start playing real music! Show us the videos and not every little aspect of Jessica’s pathetic home life. If you like her music then go and support her as an artist and buy her album! Or her biography when one finally gets written about her.
The only good thing about the lack of music videos on tv is that artists are now putting together dvd’s of there video collections that you can purchase. I think this is a great idea anyways because then you can buy the Britney video collection and drool anytime you like. Although I prefer the Crystal Method Singles DVD. But to each their own.
Well that’s enough of my opion for one night. I’m interested to hear what you guys think?
Should music videos make a comeback? or be banished away to only a land of DVD’s? What do you guys really want?
