Random Oz things I’ve learned

Here are a few “actual factual” things I’ve learned about while in Sydney and now in Melbourne.

– Hungry Jack’s is a burger joint that looks exactly like Burger King and it even serves the Whopper.

– McDonalds looks much nicer and almost appealing to enter here compared to at home.  They even have little McCafe’s that look nicer than Starbucks.

– Instead of using the term “show up” they say “turn up”

– Streets have the direction for you to look for oncoming traffic printed on the road at most intersections.  It’s still kinda confusing with traffic on the opposite side, but it’ useful to have those on the road.

– Guys are refered to as “bloaks”.  I haven’t heard girls called “Sheilas” yet.

– They don’t have shopping malls.  They have small stripmall style stuff called “Arcades”.
