DJ Louise Nox – Kool Lounge, Toronto

This past weekend I went to a lounge in Yorkville called “Kool Lounge”.  A friend of mine invited me there to check out a fairly new and kick ass DJ called “Louise Nox”.  I had been to a Gavin Rossdale concert earlier in the night and was a little nervous if I’d be able to get into the electronic vibe easily or not.  But the lure of $5 martini’s was helpful.  (Sadly they were $8, but it was still cheaper than you’d find on College St.)

I arrived and Louise Nox was already spinning the decks.  Techincally she was flawless.  She started off with more of a mellow and loungy house vibe and gradually built it up to end the set with a bit of a heavier sound, which is more of her regular style from what my friends tell me.  Her transitions were seamless.  Louise blended from one track to another without loosing a beat. We were all able to keep our rythmn while we bopped away on either our comfy lounge benches or the dance floor.  I highly recommend checking out her future gigs.

My camera battery was basically dead from the Gavin concert, but I managed to snap a few generic looking high flash photos:

A glimpse of the decor.  The black and white theme was nicely done.
