Segways for a bday in the Distillery District

On May 2nd my sister and I treated my Dad to an afternoon of Segway riding in the Toronto Distillery District.  It was a 90min tour to learn the history of the Distillery area while riding Segways.  We spent a few minutes learning the techniques of how to ride the Segways and then we were off.  They are very easy to ride and the instructors/tour guides did a great job at making you feel comfortable on them.

The tour included a stop in the Mill Street Brewery, where we sampled some very nice beer.  We also stopped in Soma Chocolate Factory, where we sampled excellent chocolate that danced on our taste buds.  The only disappointment on the tour was that I felt I would have learned the same amount of historical knowledge from a flyer that our guides were telling us.  I would have liked if they were a little more knowledgeable about the district.

I do recommend the 30 min tour to everyone.  It’s so much fun to ride a segway.

Here are a few photos from the day:

My Dad showing how excited and comfortable he is after only a few minutes on the Segway.

Crystal showing she learned how to stop.  One of three weddings are in the background.

The three of us learning about the district.  My Dad and Crystal got the “Off Road” Segways which is why they have the more impressive tires.

Some cool architecture but very exposed condo units in the Distillery.

My Dad enjoying his Birthday Cake at Jack Astors where we met the rest of the family after our Segway tour.
