Book Review – Baby Proof
Baby Proof – By Emily Giffin (2006)
Baby Proof is from the same author as the titles “Something Borrowed” & “Something Blue”.
I was first interested in the book Baby Proof when I saw it one weekend at Matt’s families cottage. I read the back of it and was instantly drawn in. I’m not usually the type of person to read a very girlie book, but this one had something different that captivated me. It is based on a topic that I have given a lot of thought to myself. I instantly related to the main character just from reading the mini blurb on the back.
The book is based on the main character Claudia and the fact that her family, friends and society believe that babies are a necessity and a womans purpose. It shows Claudia’s struggle with the pressure she faces while trying to prove to people around her and herself why she doesn’t need a baby. She had to do this while constantly being surrounded with baby situations.
It was an extremely interesting book and I couldn’t put it down for long. It’s the kind of book that puts you through every emotion. I found that I got mad at the people and assumtions society has on women. I was sad for her sisters and friends. I very often laughed while reading the book. It takes place in current time and there are a lot of things to relate to.
“Baby Proof” is a book that would appeal to many peple. In fact anyone, male or female that has at one point in time not wanted a baby. Or anyone that knows someone that doesn’t want a baby.
In a very fun way “Baby Proof” proves all the reasons why a woman doesn’t need to have a child. At the same time it proves how amazing a baby can be. Ultimately the choice is yours. But if you currently feel alone in your thoughts of possibly not wanting a baby, then I highly reccommend this book.
It was a ton of fun to read!
Thanks Joan for lending it to me.
